The World of Soravelon

The Dragon Curse
One thousand years ago the dragons of Soravelon were struck by
a curse of unknown origin. Overnight, creatures that had shaped
continents and raised civilizations were reduced to animal
intelligence -- feral beasts roosting in the ruins of their own
workshops. The magical infrastructure they built still functions,
but the peoples who inherited it understand only fragments of its
design. Nodes that once channeled power across entire regions now
flicker, fail, and reshape the land when they collapse.

Node Fallout
Failed nodes leave residues in soil, water, and air. These
fallout zones can warp flora and fauna, sour weather, disturb
old machinery, or make a place feel wrong before anyone can
explain why. Scholars disagree about whether those residues are
fuel, sickness, warning sign, or symptom of a deeper break.

The Five Great Factions
The Ironblood Covenant -- Militant survivalists who believe
strength alone determines who inherits the dragons' legacy.
The Hollow Tribunal -- Secretive judges who enforce an ancient
legal code written before the Curse, by any means necessary.
The Verdant Accord -- Druids and naturalists working to heal
the land by restoring failed nodes to their original function.
The Ashen Compact -- Pragmatic traders and alchemists who
profit from risky node-residue extraction regardless of consequence.
The Consortium of Coin -- A banking and mercantile guild that
controls commerce across every major settlement.

Node Failure and the Shifting World
Dragon-built nodes regulate weather, gravity, fauna, and the
flow of magical energy through each zone. When a node degrades
from healthy to stressed, failing, or collapsed, the zone around
it transforms: rooms shift, new passages open, creatures mutate,
and environmental hazards appear. Restoring a collapsed node is
one of the greatest challenges an adventurer can undertake.

Your Role
You arrive in Soravelon unaligned -- bound to no faction, attuned
to no domain, carrying no legacy. The choices you make will define
your standing with each faction, your mastery across known domains
of skill, and ultimately the subclass identity that sets you apart
from every other traveler in this broken, beautiful world.
